Printer Driver have a built-in feature to specify the recipients, subject and email body of the email, based on the printed document’s content.

To use content based email sending feature, the desired email settings must be specified in the printed document between special character sequences (for example: ##~~ EmailTo=recipient@domain.com~~).

When printing a document to the Printer Driver with Content Based Email Sending option enabled, the Printer Driver recognizes the special character sequences in the printed text and set up the email sending based on the extracted information.

NOTE: The special character sequence must be in the first page of the printed document.

For example:

The following character sequences embedded on the printed document:

  • ##~~EmailTo=recipient@domain.com~~
  • ##~~EmailCC=recipient2@domain.com~~
  • ##~~ES=Printer Driver version {S1} is released Content Based Email Sending~~
  • ##~~EB=Black Ice Software has released Printer Driver version 14.58 which includes new Content Base Email Sending feature to extract specific information from the printed documents, (for example email subject) and Printer Driver will send the email based on the extracted information.~~
  • ##~~P1=Password123~~
  • ##~~S1=14.58~~

The used character sequences will configure the followings:

EmailTo set up the email’s To field to recipient@domain.com
EmailCC set up the email’s CC field to recipient2@domain.com
ES set up the email’s subject to Printer Driver version 14.58 is released Content Based Email Sending
EB set up the email body to Black Ice Software has released Printer Driver version 14.58 which includes new Content Base Email Sending feature to extract specific information from the printed documents, (for example email subject) and Printer Driver will send the email based on the extracted information.
P1 will encrypt the printed and attached PDF document with the following password: Password123. This means the recipients can open the PDF document only after entered the correct password.
S1 is a custom variable, which can be used with the following format {S1}.

Available settings

List of the available settings which can be specified in the content for email sending:

##~~EmailTo=recipient@domain.com~~ Set up the recipient (To) field of the email. Multiple variables can be used, the addresses will be concatenated.
##~~EmailCC=recipient2@domain.com~~ Set up the CC (Carbon Copy) field of the email. The recipients specified in the CC will also receive the email as a copy. Multiple variables can be used, the addresses will be concatenated.
##~~EmailBCC=recipient3@domain.com, recipient4@domain.com~~ Set up the BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) field of the email. The recipients specified in the BCC will also receive the email as a hidden copy. Multiple variables can be used, the addresses will be concatenated.
##~~ES=Content Based Email Subject~~ Set up the Email Subject.
##~~EB=The body of the email.~~ Set up the Email body.
Password protection
##~~P1=Password123~~ Apply the “Password123” password to the PDF file. Users cannot open the PDF document without the password.
##~~P2=Password123~~ Apply the “Password123” as edit password to the PDF file. Users can open the PDF document, but cannot edit it without the password.
