Accessing Scanned image from client web page

Post by Dennis Owen » Wed Jun 05, 2013 7:34 am

We are building a web scanning interface to capture scanned documents as part of a business application. The scanning is working great, but the process to get the scanned image uploaded to our application is manual at this stage. How do we access the scanned image using javascript so we can automatically post the image to our web application. Our current function for saving the image file to a directory on the clients machine is:

Code: Select all

   function OnSaveImage() {
        var savedFileName = ImagesLocalFolder + "scannedimage" + Math.round(+new Date() / 1000) + ".tif";
        if (BIDISP.hDib != 0) {
            for (var i = 0; i < PageCountinTiff; i++) {
                var value = BITIFF.LoadTiffFromMemory(TiffDestinationMemoryHandle, i);
                var ret = BIDIB.SaveDIBInImageFormatExt(savedFileName, value, i, DIBImageFormat.TIFF, DIBCompression.TIFF.tifcmNoComp, DIBFillOrder.imgfoNormal, DIBSaveDialog.Hide);
                if (ret == 0) {
                    var error = BIDIB.BitmaniError();
                    window.alert("Error saving image." + BIDIB.BitmaniErrorString(error));
                    return;
                }
            }
            if (ret == 0) {
                var error = BIDIB.BitmaniError();
                window.alert("Error saving image." + BIDIB.BitmaniErrorString(error));
            }
            else {
                window.alert("Saving was successfull.");
                BIDISP.hDib = 0;
                TiffDestinationMemoryHandle = 0;
                BIDISP.Refresh();
                NextPage.style.visibility = "hidden";
                PreviousPage.style.visibility = "hidden";
                var x = document.all["BtnSave"];
                if (x != null) x.disabled = true;
            }
        }
    }
We would like to replace the local save with a ajax call to post the scanned image to a web service.

Thanks.
